The church is instructed to make a difference by spreading the Gospel to all people. Jesus, as our example, showed us His focus when He announced His ministry:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” Luke 4: 18- 19 NIV.
The “church” are the people who attend church. a|CITY CHURCH believes that it is our clear mandate to follow Jesus and to do as He would do. Our community involvement is aimed at building & restoring relationships through practical methods as we do our best to bring hope and lasting change to people NEXT2ME.
STITCH TO STITCH | CITY GROUP
STITCH TO STITCH is our skills training center in the heart of Khayelitsha that offers sewing and business skills to single, unemployed women. Our center also runs a weekly small group for the trainees & people in the community. Each trainee receives a weekly food hamper that is donated by a large supermarket franchise.
FINDING ME
FINDING ME is a monthly programme run at a Primary School in Bonteheuwel for Grade 7 girls. The programme is aimed at building relationships with the girls through carefully designd material that focuses on developing self- worth, value and a strong sense of purpose. Each month the girls are given a personal hygiene pack.
NIGHT SHELTER
a|CITY CHURCH has been working with a night shelter for a number of years. What started as a small group has evolved into a weekly Sunday service that is run at the shelter. The weekly small group continues to grow as our team builds reltionships with people in this community. Our team of volunteers has been instrumental is assisting people at the shelter to find employment.
